This article was written two years back and I hope it is still relevant.

A warm welcome to all our juniors...

We know it is a bit boring to welcome you through the sloppy words crammed into a digital screen, but hey, that's the best we can do. As you will see you shall now be escorted by guards 24X7. Seeing you would be no less than an offence, let alone coming and talking to you guys.

Anyways, your classes will commence from this Monday itself.

In the routine that you will be provided, you shall see room numbers like “N-235” or “U-413” and sometimes the “C-236”.

Finding these rooms in the 121 acres campus can be a tough job. And the guards won’t be of much help. They almost always point you in the wrong direction.

Now let us talk about the buildings.

This building that you see is the Science and Technology building, located behind the Main building. It has all in all 8 floors, including the ground floor. So it is also popularly called the "8 floor Building" or the "Aath Tala Building" (Bengali Version) and also the "New Building".

This building is the one which has all the "U" rooms. It has also the under graduate physics lab and the computer lab. You should initially enter through the gate below the giant red portion of the building. The rooms that you shall be allotted will be like "U-613" or "U-513" etc. Going through the gate below the giant red thingy will make you see the room as soon as you walk out of the lift or go up through the stairs. The point to be noted is that "U-413" will be in the third floor. "U-513" will be in the fourth floor and "U-613" in the fifth floor. Feel the feel?

The physics lab will be in the sixth floor of the building. Get off the lift, turn left and walk. Voila! You reach the Physics Lab.

This building that you see is the popular "Main Building" or the "Old Building". This is where you have the "N" and the "C" rooms. This is also where you have the Engineering Drawing room.

Now the most popular room in this building for you will be "N-235".

Now that room was hard to find for us. But worry not. You are under proper guidance.

If you skip the entrance to the Main Building, that is shown in the above picture, and keep walking straight, you will see another entrance exactly like the first one. There hop on the stairs, go up to the first floor and the "N-235" room will be right in front of you.

Another popular room will be "C-236". To reach this room use the same entrance that you used for N-235. Take the stairs and go up to the first floor. Now turn right. Walk. Turn right on the first right that you see. Go straight until you encounter another flight of stairs. The room just before the stairs, to your right hand side, is C-236.

The central library is basically near the Main Building .If you keep walking on the path shown in the above pic you shall see the library, which looks like this-

The Ed (Engineering Drawing) class is in the 3rd floor of the Main Building.Again take the second entrance to Main Building. Go to the third floor by stairs. Take right. That is the Ed room. And it will haunt you. You have been warned.

The electrical lab is in the ground floor of the Electrical Department. The location is a bit tricky to explain.

To reach there- go to Institute hall and turn left facing the entrance of the hall.

Go straight until you hit the wall and then turn right and turn left ( at the immediate turning ) and move straight until you reach the next building. Now as the

next building approaches, turn right.BASIC ELECTRICAL LAB is the heading written in the entrance. Or you could ask someone. Almost all students know about the Basic Electrical Lab, because everyone is afraid of it.

The MM lab can be reached simply by going straight on the path facing opposite to the Science and Technology Building until you see structure like this on the right .

It will most probably be painted in pink. These are the MM workshops. Various rooms for various kinds of work. Go there and you will figure it out.

The chemistry lab and the electronics lab are also in the main building. The computer lab in the Science and Technology building I would tell you the way to these labs, but you gotta do something by yourselves folks.
